translatortips® Internet Job Sources Poll 2001

Around this time last year translatortips® ran a highly popular poll (it got >1000 votes).

It was a great response because it was an IMPORTANT and highly RELEVANT issue to all translators who make use of the 'net. That must be all of us tranfree subscribers by definition The million dollar question was...

What is your BEST internet
source of translation work?

We're a year down the line. Things have changed at many of the web sites which were surveyed last year. In fact, two of last year's sites have disappeared altogether. Unsurprisingly enough, these two were the ones who performed the worst in the survey!

Others have evolved and changed the way they do things. Others have moved over to subscription only services. There's also a couple of new ones.

Lots of changes. But the issue that really matters to you and us remains the same...

Are these sites actually providing translators with work?

...well now it's time to make your...

...voice count.

Please take a moment to go to...

...and register your own opinion. If everyone gives their own opinion, we will arrive at a true overall result.

It takes less than a minute.

Once you have voted, you will be able to view the results each time you go to this page. It's a clever new voting system we've installed using some of the fancy features on our server. (This URL only works on translatortips.net, not the .com site).

Even if you're just interested in the results, please go and have a look. Let's make this survey a meaningful and useful survey for all of YOU...

The results will be extremely interesting...

  • Will last year's top dog still be at the top?
  • Will the newcomers score highly?
  • What's better, mailing lists or web sites?

Only you can decide. Please just give your honest personal opinion, so all of us can benefit.

What I mean is, don't, for example, vote for our workplace unless it is genuinely the best source for you. The same applies for all the other contenders.

When you've all voted, I'll tell you what my predictions were. I don't want to influence the vote, but I was talking to Karin and sent her my predictions yesterday. I will share them with you when we have the results.

Thank you for voting and feel free to publicise this survey in your own discussion lists etc (reprint this article if you like)...
